SITUATION
Having used a traditional menu format in years past, the client came to us with a single request: wow them.
STRATEGY
We developed an approach to make the menu as substantial as the delicacies it announces. Food such as this should not be offered in a list; rather, equal attention should be paid to the items as individual pieces of a grander plan.
SOLUTION
First, we removed the hors d'oeuvres from the body of the menu and printed them on cocktail napkins. For the dinner menu, each course (and its wine pairing) was letter-pressed on its own individual card, with a related historical/culinary fact printed on the reverse. Each set of eight cards was then tied with raffia for its table presentation.
